7th Pay Commission: This State's Teachers Stage Sit-in For 7th CPC Benefits Following DA Hike For Central Government Employees

7th Pay Commission Latest News: At a time when over 50 lakh Central Government employees are waiting for a hike in minimum pay and fitment factor beyond 7th Pay Commission recommendations, the teachers of this state have launched a sit-in demanding benefits as per 7th Central Pay Commission or 7th CPC. Their protest has gained momentum after a hike of 2 per cent in Dearness Allowance (DA) was approved by the Centre for Central Government employees.
As per reports, Rehbar-e-Taleem(ReT) teachers protest continued for the fifth consecutive day on Saturday in Srinagar outside Press Enclave over their demand to release the Seventh Pay Commission.
Led by provisional president Rahi Irshad, the protesting teachers claimed that the struggle will continue till their demand for 7th Pay Commission benefits are met. Reportedly, the ReT teachers will celebrate Teachers’ Day as black day across Jammu and Kashmir.
Meanwhile on Wednesday, the Centre gave a good news to the Central Government employees by increasing their dearness allowance (DA) by 2 per cent. The hike will be implemented with retrospective effect from July. The increase is in accordance with the accepted formula, which is based on the recommendations of the 7th Central Pay Commission or 7th CPC.
With this announcement, the hopes of over 50 lakh Central Government employees for a hike in fitment factor and minimum pay beyond 7th Pay Commission recommendations are on a new high. The Central Government employees are demanding an increase of up to 3.68 per cent in the fitment factor and up to Rs 8,000 hike in minimum pay beyond the recommendations of the Seventh Pay Commission.
Meanwhile, some reports are also suggesting that the Centre is mulling over to announce a hike in minimum pay and fitment factor beyond 7th Pay Commission recommendations for Central Government employees in January.
It will be interesting to see whether the Centre announces the hike in minimum pay and fitment factor for Central government employees beyond 7th Pay Commission recommendations or not as Minister of Finance (MoS) P Radhakrishnan in March this year had declared that the Centre is not considering a hike in minimum pay and fitment factor beyond 7th Pay Commission for 50 lakh Central Government employees and retirees.
