Shweta Tiwari reveals why her daughter Palak turned down Kasautii Zindagii Kay 2

We just cannot thank Ekta Kapoor enough for bringing the marvellous actress Shweta Tiwari into our lives with her show Kasautii Zindagii Kay. The show and the actress were loved by millions across the globe and still remains a benchmark. Well, as the makers are shooting for a reboot of Kasautii…almost after a decade, speculations about casting were rife. Erica Fernandez was later revealed to be playing the protagonist, Prerna, the character earlier played by Shweta, in the new version. And in case you did not know, rumour mill also suggested that Shweta’s daughter Palak was in the running to play the lead.

Confirming to Hindustan Times that Palak was offered the role, Shweta said she would have suggested her to take it up. ” In fact, everybody was saying, even from Balaji (production house) that she should do it. It was she who said No Mom, I don’t think I can do a daily soap and work day in and day out. I cannot do that at this point in time’. And not only Kasautii, many other television shows were offered to her, she said no to every show. She said Right now I don’t want to do it. Even if I have to do it, then I’ll do it later’.” Shweta told the news daily.

Back in April, BollywoodLife had gotten in touch with Abhinav Kohli, Shweta’s husband, and he had revealed Palak is not doing the Kasautii Zindagii Kay reboot.

While Erica has stepped into the shoes of Prerna, Parth Samathan has been roped in to play the male protagonist, Anurag Basu. Though no confirmation from the makers, it is pretty much known that Hina Khan will be playing the antagonist, Komolika – a character made iconic by Urvashi Dholakia.

We are eagerly looking forward to the reboot. While it would be like breaking the illusion, we would love to see the old actors make a cameo appearance in the new show.
